How To Build Outdoor Security Sliding Doors - Action Sports Court Project Review of 100kg Galv Series Sliding Door System

When it comes to designing security solutions for sports facilities, durability, ease of access, and quick lock-up are essential considerations in most applications. Sliding doors have become a preferred choice for outdoor sports courts due to their space-saving benefits, robust functionality and modern aesthetic.

Outdoor Sports Court Sliding Door Project

A door installer was assigned the task to come up with a simple, yet durable security door solution for an Action Sports outdoor court. The objective was to provide easy access in and out, with fast lock up at the end of the day.

The 100kg Galv Series Track and Components were used to successfully complete this project with ease:

Products Used for this Outdoor Sliding Door Project:

  • 1 x #5305 100kg Galv Track (6m): A durable galvanized steel track capable of supporting doors up to 100kg.

  • 6 x #5313 Wall Mounted Track Brackets: Securely fastens the track to the structure with an L shaped bracket for vertical mounting.

  • 1 x #5300 Trolley Kit for 100kg Track: Provides smooth and effortless door movement for ease of operation with sliding door trolleys.

To further enhance the functionality of sliding doors, we also offer a range of bottom guide solutions to keep things aligned and operating efficiently at the base of your door:

Locking System:

The locking system for this project was simply Round Eyes other wise known as Padlock Eyes. They were welded to the door prior to powder coating for a complete finish. They function easily as when the doors slide to meet each other a padlock can be secured to lock the two doors closed together.

Why Sliding Doors are a Good Solution for Sport Courts and Fields?

More and more door installers  recognize the advantages of sliding doors in enclosed sports court and field designs. Outdoor courts often require secure closures when not in use, making a reliable sliding door system essential.

The key benefits of sliding doors for courts are:

  • Space Efficiency: Unlike hinged doors, sliding doors do not require clearance space to open and close, making them ideal for courts positioned closely together.

  • Security and Durability: The doors, made from steel profiles with welded mesh plates, provide strength and longevity while ensuring proper ventilation.

  • Seamless Visual Integration: Tracks, such as our 100kg Galv Series used in this application, can be coated to match the court’s design scheme.

  • Health and Safety: Sports environments are renowned for adults and kids running around a million miles an hour, accidents can occur when hinged doors fly open in a hurry as they protrude outwards. A sliding door design reduces the risk due to it's low profile function.

Our sliding door hardware is an excellent option for various outdoor sports applications, providing reliable, smooth, and secure access solutions. Whether it’s for tennis courts, action sports arenas, or other recreational facilities, our galvanized or stainless steel track systems offer a great combination of durability and simplicity.
